At LAYA we’re all about living an active lifestyle, so it’s important that we fuel our bodies with the good stuff. This Berry Oat Smoothie is a delicious and healthy start to the day that only takes 5 minutes to prepare!

We love putting oats in our morning smoothies as they keep you full throughout the day and have lots of nutritional benefits. Oats are a great source of fibre, antioxidants and essential vitamins, including iron and vitamin B. Studies have even shown that oats may reduce cholesterol levels and assist with blood sugar control.

Greens are optional in this smoothie, but are always good to include as they don’t have much flavour and are great for substance and nutritional value. Spinach sometimes wilts faster than you can use it, so it’s a good idea to freeze some for future smoothies.

Vanilla and cinnamon is our favourite combination to add to smoothies! It adds some heart to the drink, and a flavour that reminds us of cake. When added to a berry smoothie it’s like you’re drinking a berry muffin.

Cinnamon Sticks

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup almond milk (or any preferred milk)
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt or greek yogurt
1/2 cup baby spinach leaves (or any preferred greens)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder

STEPS
1) Blend all the ingredients together
2) Enjoy your delicious start to the morning

For some added nutrition and long-lasting energy, try adding a frozen banana!
